Are you passive aggressive? If so, how do you deal with it?

 

I am. I either go completely silent or start doing sign languag. My husband loves that. He doesn’t know sign language.

 

The funny thing is a lot of the time I sign to my husband “I love you”. It still tickles me that he has no idea I’m being sweet.

 

I was extremely passive in my first marriage and ended up getting walked all over. The ex was extremely surprised when after being separated for a year using a useless lawyer, I hired an extremely aggressive counselor who had the divorce finished and finalized in 90 days, and split the property down the middle. My second marriage has been a lot more give and take, but when I decide to go on a trip or some other decision, I brief the Mrs. on what's coming as does she when she has plans.... no more sitting on my hands. So far, it's been a good 37 years, and seems to have worked well for both of us. And what I learned in my relationship, I carried over in my business and private lives.

 

Every once in awhile I’ll sign to my wife. I’ll point to myself, then point down to my knee, and point up to my head. She usually signs back like this

I wouldn't label myself as passive aggressive but I might have slipped into that kind of behavior at times.

 

I’m pretty direct, subtlety is not my strong point
I have a hard time reading social situations or knowing when someone likes me
I tend to say what I feel and I’m terrible for blurting.

I'm not sure how passive aggressive I am. I've had my moments for sure, but I tend to be too impulsive to keep that up for long. lol

I think most people have experiences requiring either direct and passive aggression.

In business, it can be about defeating an external rival for an account, and internally, it can be about vying for a key promotion. Both of these are instances where you need to have passive aggressive weapons at your disposal.

If some asshole at a bar tries to pick up your woman (or man) at a bar, when you are right there, direct aggression is necessary. Liquid foods for a month should teach an interloper to stay the fuck out of your business.

When I’m interested in someone I go all out. I don’t get aggressive and slap her around and shit. But I’ll pursue her aggressively letting her know that I’m interested. Believe it or not, I’m very fluent in bullshitting ( my friend @Valspar let me know that it was spelled that way, I ❤️ you man) now I forgot what the fuck we were talking about. Oh, I remember

I’m aggressive when I’m interested in something or someone. But if doesn’t work out, I move on. So when I move on, does that mean I’m being passive? I’m aggressive pursuing someone, but when I stop the pursuit am I being passive?

I have been accused of being passive aggressive on internet websites. That is because I do not respond in kind to insults, but I continue to argue my point.
